This is normally caused by your paper cassette guides not being
set properly. Check to make sure the guides are up against the
paper. Also check that the machine is set for the size paper that is
in the cassette.
This is normally caused by white-out, ink, or dirt on the slit
glass. The slit glass is the narrow slit of glass normally to the
left of the large rectangle piece of glass. If there is white-out on
the glass you can normally clean it off with your finger nail. If it
is just dirt or dust it normally can be wiped off with a dry soft
cloth. If it is ink you will probably need a slightly damp cloth to
clean it. If you use a glass cleaner use something that doesn't have
ammonia in it. Never spray or apply anything directly to
the machine, always apply it to a clean lint free cloth and then use
the cloth to clean.
First from your telephone call the number you are faxing. If you
hear a recording, if someone answers, if the number just rings and
doesn't pick up, or if you hear anything else other than a fax tone
(a load squealing sound); then your fax is most likely fine and the
problem is that you have the wrong fax number or there is a problem
with the other fax. If this is not the case check and make sure your
fax telephone line is plugged into the proper jack on your fax. Most
fax machines have two phone jacks located next to each other, the
second is for an extension phone. If you are plugged into the wrong
jack you maybe able to send but not receive or visa versa.
First record the error exactly as it is in the display incase you
need to refer to it. Next check your operators manual to see if the
error is referenced there, if it is follow the instructions in your
operators manual. If your operators manual doesn't give you answer
try opening and closing the cover to see if it clears. If that
doesn't clear thee error turn off the machine and unplug the power
cord for about 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn the
machine on. If you are still getting the error call for service.
